| THE NEWEST SOUTHERN BAPTIST COLLEGE IS INCORPORATED IN INDIANA On February 11, 2005, Indiana Baptist University, d/b/a Indiana Baptist Institute, was incorporated as a non-profit corporation (501[c][3]). The IBI's purpose is to prepare men and women, in the northern states of Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, and Wisconsin, to be leaders in the vocations to which God has called them by training them to engage the culture with a biblical world view. God had given visions for a Baptist college in Indiana for some years. Two individuals, Pastor Timothy Faber of East Tipp Baptist Church, and Beldon Wade, a committed layman in the church, have taken steps to ensure the beginnings and successes of this endeavor. In the spring of 2004 the first class was held. On April 13.2004, a Board of Trustees was elected by the Wabash Valley Baptist Association. The college is offering an Associate of Christian Ministry degree by combining seminary extension classes with classes developed by IBI At the present time IBI is taking all necessary steps to be accredited within the earliest time frame established for new colleges. Such criteria requires that a school be in operation for at least two years, graduate a class of students, and meet other requirements. Though not yet accredited IBI has been recognized by at least four other accredited colleges as offering a worthy education. These colleges have agreed to accept transfer credits from IBI: Mid- Continent University in Mayfield, KY; Hannibal LaGrange College in Hannibal, MO; Clear Creek Baptist Bible College in Pineville, KY; and Maranatha Baptist Bible College in Watertown, WI. Once accreditation is achieved, IBI will seek to expand into a full university offering degrees in the fields of Education, Fine Arts, Journalism, and Law and Government, in addition to degrees in Christian Ministry and Theology.
